Physiotherapy Centerof Friendship and Disability-Friendly Boatinaugurated at Chilmari which will be changed lives and accessibility for all.

Friendship, a Non-Government Organization (NGO) and a social purpose organization dedicated to improving the lives of marginalized climate impacted communities, is proud to announce the inauguration of a Physiotherapy Center and a Disability Friendly Boat at Chilmariupazila underKurigram district. These initiatives mark an important step towards improving the quality of lives of individuals with disabilities in the region.

Physiotherapy Centre, equipped with special facilities including Neuro Developmental Disorders (NDD) Corner, aims to provide comprehensive care to individuals with various physical and neurological conditions. The center will offer a range of services including physiotherapy, check-up, and therapeutic interventions, administered by highly trained and experienced therapists. Services will be available free of charge, ensuring that every person, regardless of their socio-economic background, can access the care they need.

Disability-friendly boat is another groundbreaking initiative of Friendship NGO. This Boat designed with special features is equipped with advanced accessibility, such as inclined planes for wheelchair users and use of contrasting colors and safety equipment for the visually impaired. The boat will facilitate the transportation of people with disabilities to and from remote areas, ensuring that they can access essential services and opportunities that were previously out of reach.

The event held on 31st August 2023 was graced by the presence of key local government officials and inaugurated by KurigramCivil Surgeon Dr. Md. Manjur e Morshed while Deputy Director of Social Welfare Md. RukunulIslam,Kurigram and UpazilaNirbahi Officer Mr. RafiulAlam were present in this inauguration ceremony.

Manjur who expressed his satisfaction about the overall management and equipment of this center. He also believed that it will create mile stone services for the person with disabilities. The UNO of ChilmariUpazila was inaugurated the Disability Friendly boat at renowned Chilamri River Port and commented that “Friendship always provided quality of services for the marginalized char communities.

The Physiotherapy centers along with disability boat able to provideensure the services at door steps of beneficiaries”. The DD of Social-welfare officer is very satisfied about the Centre’s facilities.

Apart from the local dignitaries government representative also present in this occasion. The Rotary Club of Ramna president Mr. Khair Uddin Khan and Rotary member Mr. Ashekul Islam were also present. The function was presided over by Ms. Ayesha Tasin, Senior Director and Head of Inclusive Citizenship.

IC Deputy Director Ahmed Taufiqur Rahman and Deputy General Manager Abu Muhammad Shihab, Assistant General Manager NusratZerin and Senior Regional Manager NayeemKamran were also present on the occasion. Their presence highlights the collaborative efforts between organizations and their shared commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of people with disabilities. The Rotary Foundation provided the necessary funds for procurement of machines which facilitated 2 physiotherapy centres and boat building.

Friendship NGO remains committed to building a more inclusive society where every person, regardless of their abilities, can thrive and live a fulfilled life. The inauguration of the physiotherapy center and disability-friendly boat represents a significant step towards achieving this vision.
