A loaded track hit a motor bike rider at Kathalbari union under Kurigram Sadar upazila at around 8.30 am on Thursday (August 24). The injured was immediately taken to Kurigram general hospital in a critical condition where the attending doctor declared him dead.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek 52, a staff of Kurigram T & T office and son of late Meser Ali of village Ambari crossing under Kurigram municipality.
Eyewitnesses and police sources said Abdul Malek was going to Chenai union under Rajarhatupazila riding a motor bike. When he reached near a bridge at Sutar Mill, a loaded track coming from Rangpur collided head on with the bike. Malek was injured seriously. Locals however recovered him and immediately taken to Kurigram general hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Officer-in-charge of Kurigram Sadar police station Farid Hossain told that after the incident the driver along with the killer track managed to escape. The body was handed over to his relatives. A case was filed, OC added.
