Speakers in a function here underscored the need for building social movement against early marriage to have an early marriage free society.
“Child marriage is a disease of the society, we need to work together to stop it. It is not possible to reduce child marriage unless conducting awareness campaign including seminars, workshops in schools, colleges, and madrasas located at the grassroots levels of the district”, they said.
They made the observations while they were addressing a hall room of Kanchipara Union Parishad Complex under Fulchhari upazila in the district on Sunday.
Bangladesh Chapter of World Vision International, a global Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization, arranged the function under Strengthening Social &Behavior Change project funded by UNICEF.
Presided over by union parishad chairmanGM SohelParvez, local Imam Mahmudul Hasan, teacher Hamidul Islam, freedom fighter Azharul Haque Bablu.
The function was moderated by program officer of World Vision Bangladesh here Rekha Khatun.
Various recommendations were also adopted to reduce child marriage at the project command areas during the open discussion session of the function.
