An expert team of police of Kahaloo Police station led by OC Mahmud Hasan have arrested five rapists from different locations under Paikar union in Kahaloo upazila in Bogura on early Thursday for brutally raping a garments worker Aunt and her Niece and snatching their worths, cash money on July 13 instant.

Police quoting case statement said that the duo-victim (Aunt-aged 39, and Niece-aged 15) started for a relative’s house in Rangpur by bus on July 12 afternoon and on the way, they met with her colleague Rabbani of Rangpur and at a stage, at Baropur of Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Bogura, their bus went unused and finding no way out, the duo-victim and Rabbani took shelter at Rabbani’s friend van-puller Abdur Razzak of Kushlihar Purbapara area under Paikpara union of Kahaloo upazila of Bogura district.

On the following day evening, they started for their destination in Rangpur but on the way in Bagoil village, the arrested rapists with other 4/5 snatched them from the auto-van and ganged rapped them and snatched Tk. 72 thousand, an ear-ring, a button cell-phone, added the police.

Following the rape, the victims were sent to Dhaka for treatment and later on July 19, she along with her husband came to the place of occurrence (PO) for escorting van-puller Abdur Razzak to police station for filing case and later they lodged case in Kahaloo police station against 8/10 unidentified rapists on women and children torture prevention act.

The efficient Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kahaloo Police station Mahmud Hasan and Inspector (Investigation) ABM Feroz Wahid conducted drives in the area rapidly after case filing and arrested the five rapists and recovered Tk. 15 thousand and ear-ring from their possession.

The arrested are identified as Abul Kashem Manik, 35, son of Ashraf Ali Fakir of Kushlihar village, Rakib Hasan, 23, son of Abu Bakkar Siddik of Bagoil village, Shakil Hossain, 23, son of Nurul Islam of Bagoil village, Atik Rahman Pranto, 22, son of Ayub ali of Bagoil village and Habibur Rahman Habib, 25, son of Mostafa Fakir of Kushlihar village under Kahaloo upazila of Bogura district.

In a press briefing, Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bogura said that initially, the arrestees have confessed their rape incident and robbery and they will be sent to the court for 7 days remand for further information regarding the crimes.
