A serious clash between BNP men and Police has triggered the injure of 70-80 including 27 female students in Bogura town on Tuesday afternoon while BNP men were forwarding with a foot-procession towards Shatmatha at Yakubia intersection of Bogura town.
A foot procession was started from Banani rushing towards Matidali area of the town via Shatmatha and after reaching in the location, aggrieved BNP threw brick-chips towards police while barricaded them in the area and party office and at a stage, police threw tear cells to disperse the BNP-men.
Following the clash, at least 70-80 persons got injured including 27 female students of Yakubia Girls’ School of the clash area, about 30 BNP men and at least 20 police men and injured female students have been under treatment in Government Mohammad Ali Hospital in the town.
Following the clash, a tension remained in the town as AL men brought out a peace and development procession in the town and they stayed their position at Shatmatha of the town.
Nure Alam Rigan, General Secretary of Chattra Dal, Bogura district unit said that at least 30-40 BNP were injured from the police attack on them and police also detained 6-8 BNP men from different locations of the town.
In a press briefing at BNP party office, Rezaul Karim Badsha, President of Bogura district unit BNP and Mayor of Bogura Municipality said that police hampered their democratic rights for establishing non-partial caretaker government for free and fair upcoming national election and over 200 BNP men injured from police attack.
Contacted, Snigdha Aktar, Additional SP of Bogura district police said that BNP men attacked on police without any cause with hand bomb and bamboo sticks and injured many police men.
Contacted, Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bogura said that police will take punitive action against the law-breakers and cases will be lodged against them soon.
