Various kinds of colorful aquarium fishes are pisciculturing in Kurigram as first time financial assistance by Pally Karmo Sayaok Foundation (PKSF).
KurigramSadar and Rajarhatupazila office of a renowned Non-Government Organization RangpurDinajpur Rural Service (RDRS) succeed as experimentally causing new entrepreneurs have been created in the district. Consequently, job opportunities have also been created among the unemployed youths.
While visiting on the spot and found that the pisciculturistKhalilur Rahman of village Uttar Protap under Kathalbari union in KurigramSadarupazila has started tenvarieties of colorful mother fishes in four separate mini ponds on his four decimal of land. It costs taka twelve lacs and he will sell around taka forty thousand. So he is very happy at this.
He said RDRS supplied me four hundred mother fishes from Khulna and Jashor at a cost of Taka 8,500. In addition, fishing net need Tk.2000, training, sign board and a sack of feed needs Tk 4000 and I released ten verities of colorful fishes. Around 2000 kids were found from six verities of mother fishes and rest kids will be found periodically. I am expecting to sell of kids at Tk.40000 in first phase.
Technical Officer (fisheries) of Rajarhat RDRS office MozammelHaque informed that it is the first initiative to pisciculture of various colorful fishes. We are trying to marketing these fishes in Rajathat,Kurigram and Rangpur. Twelve varieties of color fishes have been supplied between two farmers which are Gappi,Moly,Sortail,Gola fish,climbing curp,Comet,Gorami,Khalisha,Blackmor,Tetraburg and Tiger burg.These mother fishes will release kids in every three months. Consequently, they will be benefitted.
Kurigram District Fishery Officer (DFO) Kalipada Roy told that the pisciculture of new varities have started here. So the door of new possibility has been opened.The new colorful fish’s spark it’s beautification. New entrepreneurs will be created and job opportunities will also create here,he added.
