Two brothers were killed and another was injured after being crushed under the wheels of a train at Chandipur in Pabna’s Santhia on Thursday morning.

The accident took place at Chandipur nearby Kashinathpur crossing in Santhia upazia at around 6.30am.

The deceased are Jamirul Islam,32, son of Masud Munsi and his cousin Babu Islam,24, son of Jalal Uddin of Kabarikhola village in Santhia upazila of the district. The injured Momin Hossain,27, was admitted to Pabna General Hospital.

Locals said that three brothers were going to their grocery store on a motorcycle towards Kashinathpur.At such time the Dhalarchar Express train from Ishwardi to Dhalarchar crosses the Kashinathpur railway crossing ran over three men when they were crossing the rail track, leaving two dead on the spot and another sustained injured.

Ishwardi Railway Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Khairul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said that a team of GRP police went to the spot to recovered the bodies after receiving information.

After post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the deceased’s families. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Railway Police Station Nihir Ranjan Dutta said that the police are working on the spot to investigate the matter.
