At least two passengers killed and five other were injured in a road accident on Ulipur-Rajarhat road in Kurigram district at 8.00 am on Tuesday (July 04).Fire Fighters rescued the injured and admitted them to Rajarhatupazila health complex. Police seized the peak up van and the Auto Rickshaw.

The deceased were identified as Serajul Islam 45 son of Gaffar Ali Mollah of village Naodanga under Ulipurupazila and Selina Begum 35 daughter of Yousul Ali of village Nazimkhan under Rajarhatupazila in the district.

Eyewitnesses and Fire Service sources said an Ulipur bound peak up van from Rajarhatupazila and a Rajarhat bound Auto Rickshaw collided head on from the opposite direction. The Auto Rickshaw rammed and fell in a road side ditch. The passenger Serajul Islam and Selina Begum injured seriously who were taking to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition for better treatment but they died on the way. The other injured passengers are Aminul Islam 45, Sinha Akhter 8, Goljar Hossain 40, Habibur Rahman 40 and Rafikul Islam 32.

Group leader of Rajarhat Fire Service and Civil Defense AkhtaruzzamanSaodagor told that getting on information our team rushed to the spot and recovered the injured passengers.

Officer-in-charge of Rajarhat police station AbdullahhelJaman told that the peak up van and the Auto Rickshaw have been seized. A preparation was going on to file a case in this connection.
