Fake Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) the mastermind of the money collection ring along with an active member has been arrested from Gaibandha on early Monday.

A team of DB under the leadership of Saihan Oliullah, OC of (DB) conducted a raid in Gachabari Paschimpara area of Saghata Upazila of Gaibandha and arrested them.

According to DB sources, fake UNO accused Md Tuhin, the mastermind of the fraud ring, was arrested on the basis of perfect intelligence.

Arrested Md Tuhin Mia (35) is son of Amir Uddin of Gachabari Paschim Para of Shaghata Upazila of Gaibandhar. At that time, 3 buttons and 1 smart mobile phone with SIM card were seized.

DB sources also said that during the initial interrogation, the accused Tuhin and the accused teenager admitted that they had been collecting money by using the names and titles of UNO, Magistrate, Police Officer, Secretary of the Union Parishad and other high-ranking officials on mobile phones for a long time in connivance with each other.

Superintendent of Police Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty said both of them have been produced court on Monday. A remand appeal will be submitted for more information, SP added.
