The golden jubilee (50th anniversary) of the conferment of the Julio-Curie Peace Medal on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was celebrated in Pabna on Sunday.

District administration chalked out different programmes, including cultural programme, discussion meeting and prize distribution were held at Pabna ShilpakalaAcademy to celebrate the day.

A discussion, presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Biswas Russel Hossainwas held marking the day. Zilla Parishad Chairman valiant freedom fighter ASM Abdur Rahim Pakon, additional superintendent of police Benazir Ahmed, assistant commissioner Farista Karim,deputy director of agriculture extensionDr Md. Jamal Uddin, ,additional deputy commissioner Abdullah Al Mamun, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Jahangir Alam, district education officer Rostam Ali Helali, Pabna government Technical School and College teacher Ali Akbar Raju, assistant commissioner Abdul Hasnat, journalist Rafiqul Islam Sweet were present on the occasion, among others.

The speakers in the meeting said to the students of the educational institutions, `you have to take Bangabandhu’s ideals in your heart and move forward and make yourselves as worthy citizens.

At the end of the programme in the evening, prizes were distributed among the winners of essay, quiz and painting competitions with Bangabandhu Julio Curie.
