Through various program World Metrology Day celebrated

World Metrology Day -2023 marking the slogan ‘Measurement Supporting the Global Food System’was celebrated through various programme in Rajshahi on Saturday.

The programme was organized in the office conference room by BSTI Rajshahi Divisional Office under the chairmanship of Deputy Director (CM) of BSTI Eng. Md Saiful Islam.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) (Joint Secretary) Md Imtiaz Hossain was present as the chief guest in the meeting. President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Masudur Rahman Rinku, Vice President of Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners Association Abdul Awal Khan Chowdhury (Jyoti) and Director of BCSIR, Rajshahi Dr. Md Salim Khan was present as a special guest.

Speakers delivered keynote addresses on the theme of World Metrology Day. BSTI’s Deputy Director (CM) and Divisional Office Head Eng. Md Saiful Islam presented the keynote speech on this year’s theme. In his welcome address, the President detailed the objectives and significance of the World Metrology Day, BSTI’s Act, Rules, implementation of modern technology and activities of BSTI through coordination with International Weights and Measures Organizations.

The chief guest in his speech emphasized on the production of quality food and said that producers, importers, consumers of food products and BSTI officers and employees should play an effective role with transparency in the activities to make meaningful the importance of measurement in global food management.

The special guests highlighted proper storage and marketing of regionally produced products for proper food management and requested traders to buy and sell products in correct weight and measure. They also called on everyone to play a leading role in building a sustainable, developed and father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s dream Sonar Bangla by preserving consumer rights.

Leaders of various industrial and merchant associations and leaders of business organizations, representatives of various industrial establishments, journalists of electronic and print media, officials of government, private and autonomous institutions and dignitaries of the metropolis were present in the meeting.
