Taking the opportunity one kind of dishonest traders increased the price of the seasonal favorite fruit watermelon.
While visiting in the market and talking to Ramzan Ali a seller of water melon near KurigramAdarshapoura market told that watermelon was selling at Tk.40per kg but now we are selling per kg at Tk.50/- Another seller Aminul Islam in front of Kurigram Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (P.T.I.) told that most of our water melon are ripe and very sweet which are selling rapidly and per kg watermelon was \sold here at Taka 35 some days back but at present the costing of transport have been increased.
The poor and ultra-poor persons have no capacity to purchase such kind of juicy fruit in high rates. Finding no alternative way the middle class persons are compelled to purchase 3-4 kgs of watermelon instead of 8-10kgs weighing.
Watermelon are being carried from Barishad, Patuakhali and Bhola district.There are two varieties of watermelon is seen in the market which are black and another is green color but green varieties are selling in a large scale.Watermelon is nutritious and sweet in taste.There are many wonderful benefits of eating watermelon in summer season.Watermelon not only keeps dehydration at bay in summers but also provides body with powerful antioxidants and essential vitamins,several nutritionist said.
