Bone chilling cold wavesuffered people in Kurigram

The people Rangpur division including Kurigram district are being suffered badly due to mildcold wave and dense fog for the last several days.

Although the sun was visible at 11.30 am but biting cold wave was blowing which affected men, women and children with cold related diseases. The day laborers, distressed persons as well as lower income generating group are being suffered badly. The wild birds, poultry birds and domestic animals are also the sufferer.

The poor people especially river side people of more than four hundred char and Island char are the worst suffered as a total of 15 rivers including the Brahmaputra,Dharla,Teesta,Dudkumar are flowing through the district. Many of them are seen to warming themselves burning wood and wastage papers.

The day laborers came out from their respective houses in search of work violating bone chilling and biting cold due to maintain their families.

On the other hand, the people are rushing towards to the shops to purchase warm clothes for near and dear one. But the poor people are also purchasing second hand clothes from Nasar Uddin Markets,Judge court market and adjacent footpath market in low cost.

The second hand cloth traders are doing brisk business. EnamulHaque 50, a second hand trader of Nasar Uddin market told this correspondent that the price of second hand clothes have been increased in this year causing the price has also been increased in retail.

Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of Kurigram General Hospital Dr. Shahinur Rahman Shipon told that the number of patients with cold related diseases have been increased in outdoor due to cold wave. Especially children and old aged persons are the main patients.

Officer-in-charge (CC) of Rajarhat Weather Observatory Tuhin Miah said the lowest temperature was recorded at 8.4 degree Celsius in the morning on Wednesday.It is likely to blow two more moderate cold wave in this month according to weather forecast, he added.

Kurigam Deputy Commissioner Mohammad SaidulArif said thirty eight thousand blankets have already been distributed among cold hit poor people .More twenty five thousand blankets have been receivednewly which will be distributed soon.
