Char entrepreneurs can play role to push forward chars towards development- Speakers.

Speakers in a function here said the char entrepreneurs could play significant role to push forward the chars (land mass emerged in river) towards desired development.

“As the training makes a man skilled and helps improve the skills of any individual, a number of char entrepreneurs of a project have been brought under training programme. In this regard, the training on financial literacy can make them more skilled to run their business successfully”, they also said.

They came up with the comments while they were addressing a concluding ceremony of 3-day long training for the char entrepreneurs on Financial Literacy at Balashi meeting room of sks Inn at Radhakrishnapur, an outskirt of the district town on Wednesday.

Swiss Contact arranged the workshop under Making Markets Works for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C) project.

SujayetKabir, knowledge management and innovation coordinator of m4c project and Tawhidul Islam, senior manager, Innovation and knowledge management of the project addressed the concluding ceremony among others.

SKS-M4C project manager agriculturist Md. Hafizur Rahman Sheikh, senior intervention officer Chandan Gupta and other staff were present on the occasion.

During the open discussion session, the trainers elaborately discussed the proper usage of the micro credit received by the entrepreneurs and many recommendations and techniques were adopted to help them boost their business in the days of ahead.

Chief storyteller of Better Stories Ltd. an ideas agency based in Dhaka, Md. Minhaz Anwar and other staff of the firm conducted the training sessions as the facilitators.

The participants were imparted training on various issues including savings, budgeting and financial planning to make their business profitable and sustainable.

During the open discussion session, the trainers also elaborately discussed the proper usage of the micro credit received by the entrepreneurs and many recommendations and techniques were adopted to help them boost their business in the days of ahead.

A total of 20 entrepreneurs coming from different chars of project command areas here took part in the training.

SKS-m4c project manager KrishibidHafizur Rahman Sheikh the M4C project is being implemented by the Swiss Embassy in Bangladesh and the Rural Development Academy Bogra and Swiss Contact Bangladesh with the financial support of Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh and the government of Bangladesh while SKS Foundation is working as the implementing partner.

sThe project is working on various strategies for overall economic development, market connectivity, employment generation and rescue from natural calamities of Char dwellers living in project command areas of Gaibandha district side by side with reducing the poverty of char people, he concluded.
