Gaibandha DC sets unique example through providing gifts to sick freedom fighters

Gaibandha deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Oliur Rahman has set a unique example through providing gifts to the sick freedom fighters of the district going to their respective homes.

Concerned sources said all sorts of preparations were completed by the district administration to celebrate Great Victory Day-2022 on Friday. A series of programmes were adopted to mark the day. As part of the programmes, giving reception the freedom fighters and their close relatives was underway at the ground of Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium of the town here on Friday at 11 am.

A good number of freedom fighters were invited to attend the reception function but some of the freedom fighters expressed their incompetence to participate in the function as they have been suffering from various diseases including old age complications.

Taking this in view, DC Oliur Rahman took a decision to go to the houses of the sick freedom fighters and give them the gifts of the district administration on Thursday.

Accordingly, DC Oliur Rahman went to the house of ill freedom fighter Foyzar Rahman at Thansinghpur under SadarUpazila in the district on Thursday evening and gave him a stick of flower, a package of sweet and an amount of money as gift.

Receiving the gift from the DC, sick freedom fighter Foyzar Rahman burst into tears and thanked the DC  forvisiting the house and giving him the gift on Victory Day.

Speaking on the occasion DC Oliur Rahman said as they are the best and the golden sons of the nation, the district administration has taken the initiative to give them gifts aimed to evaluate them  and to  acknowledge their contribution to the country’s independencein 1971.

Later, Sadar UNO SharifulAlam, nezarat deputy collector Md. Jewel Miah,  andIfteqar Rahman, executive Magistrate of the district administration, directed by the DC , visited the homes of the 39 sick freedom fighters and handed over the gifts of the district administration to the freedom fighters.

Former deputy commander of SadarupazilaMuktijoddhaSangshad Ali Akbar Miah accompanied the DC and other executive magistrates during the visits at sick freedom fighters houses located at different places of the district.
