A daylong workshop on Trigger and Threshold setting was held at the hall room of Gaibandha Govt. College of the town here on Monday.
The workshop was held under the project of Scale up Flood Anticipatory Action for Protecting Lives and Assets in Northern REGION in Bangladesh being implemented by Save the Children Bangladesh in partnership with SKS Foundation, a local non-government organization with the financial support of Korea International Cooperation Agency.
Professor Khalilur Rahman, principal of the college, formally inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.
The workshop was also addressed among others by district relief and rehabilitation officer (Acting) Md. Jewel Miah, officer of RhimesFakhrulArefin, sector manager of Save the children here Towhidul Islam Tarafder, technical specialist FatemaMeherunnesa while project coordinator of SKS Foundation AKM Abdul Matin was the moderator.
In the function, executive engineer of Forecasting and Warning Center of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) Md. ArifuzzamanBhuiyan was the chief discussant.
The speakers in their speeches emphasized for setting trigger and threshold to reduce the loss of lives and properties through creating early preparedness among the people about flood, which comes to the district every year and causes untold sufferings and sorrows to the people of flood prone areas.
A number of officials of BWDB here, elite and stakeholders of the district including journalists of print and electronic media took part in the workshop.
