88 kids of leprosy-affectedpeople,general disable persons get education materials, finanancial assistance in Gaibandha

As many as 88 kids of leprosy-affected people, the persons with disabilities and marginalized people of the district got education materials and financial assistance to help run their academic activities smoothly.

In this regard, a distribution function organized by The Leprosy Mission International Bangladesh was also held at the hall room of SinnomulMohilaSamity of the town here this noon under Mobilization and Empowerment of People Living with Disabilities Project supported by Learning for Change and Resilience Project.

District education officer (DEO) MdEnayet Hossain attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest.

Presided over by project manager Jeorge Biswas, the function was also addressed among others by technical support officer Keshob Chandra Roy and area development officer Md. Sariful Islam.

Project manager Jeorge Biswas in his speeches said a number of staff and officials have been working for implementing the MEPLD Project in the district since January 202o aimed to change the socio-economic condition of the leprosy-affected people.

The project has stood taking the education materials, financial assistance beside the children of the leprosy affected people, general disable persons including marginalized people to help them continue their academic activities peacefully, he added.

Later, the DEO formally distributed the materials to the children reading from primary level to degree level as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion DEO Md. Enayet Hossain in his speeches thanked the project officials for distributing education materials and financial aid to the children of leprosy-affected people, general disable persons including marginalized people of the district.

Each of the children received a bag for carrying books, 6khatas and 6 pens for writing and Cash aid ranging from TK 2000 TO 3500.

After receiving the materials and cash support, the beneficiary children expressed their gratefulness to the project and its officials.
