Judge M Ali Ahmed of the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-3 pronounced the verdict at 1pm on Monday (March 7) Accused Abdul Malek (49) was present in the court at that time.

According to court sources, Abdul Malek raped a sixth grade girl at his home on the night of August 4, 2016. Then show fear not to tell anyone about the incident. After trying to rape her more than once, the girl informed her mother.

On August 14, his wife filed a case against Abdul Malek. Following the investigation, the then Pirganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Debashish Kumar Roy filed the chargesheet in the court on January 12, 2019.

The judge announced the verdict today after a three-year trial. In addition to his life sentence, he was fined five thousand taka and sentenced to two months imprisonment without pay.

In response to the verdict, the plaintiff’s lawyer Advocate Kazi Mahfuzul Islam told reporters that the raped girl was a child of a needy family. After the incident, her studies were stopped and she took shelter in various houses with her mother and brother. Later, the girl took a job in a garment factory to carry the burden of the house hold activities.  In this situation, I expected the death sentence of the accused .
