A fake doctor was nabbed at bus stand area under Adamdighi upazila in Bogura on Saturday.

The arrested is Abdur Rashid Sarkar (51) son of Bahar Ali of Pir Kasimpur (Dakshinpara) area in Muradnagar upazila of Comilla district.

On a trip of RAB-12 members led by Executive Magistrate Rupam Das raided the Al-Safi Diagnostic Center and arrested the fake doctor at 10:30 am on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the mobile court’s executive magistrate Rupam Das ordered the fake degree holder Dr Abdur Rashid to pay a fine of Tk 1 lakh and six months’ imprisonment without pay for two more months without pay.

Abdur Rashid Sarkar said he started seeing patients as a village doctor in 2005 and had been seeing patients in different parts of the country, including Teknaf, since 2012, holding those fake medical degrees like MBBS PGT, FCPC (NET) medicine skin-sex nose ear throat, head-neck.  On ENT Surgery (BSMMU) X-PG Hospital Dhaka and other specialists in various diseases have been cheating people by treating them under false pretenses.

Executive Magistrate Rupam Das said that under Section 51 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009, he was fined one Tk 1 lakh and sentenced to six months imprisonment without pay, and another two months imprisonment without pay.
