Nimai Ghosh President (Daily Karatoya, Samakal) and General Secretary Abdul Mannan (Daily Ittefaq,New Nation) in Bienial Election of Sherpur Press Club under Sherpur upazila of Bogura has been elected respectively.

The election was held on Wednesday (February 23) from 2 to 6 pm at the organization’s office on the second floor of the bus stand Uttara Plaza.

Nimai Ghosh got 18 votes for the post of president and his nearest rival Shafiqul Islam Shafiq got 16 votes. Abdul Mannan and Sujit Basak both got equal number of 18 votes for the post of General Secretary.  But later Sujit Basak withdrew his candidature.

In the evening after the voting, the chairman of the election management committee Abdus Sattar announced the result.

Besides,Vice President Sabuj Chowdhury (Prothom Alo), Joint Secretary Utpal Malakar (Uttaranchal Barta), Office Secretary Shahidul Islam Shaon (Dinkal), Literary Secretary Abdul Wadud (Bijoy Bangla), Executive Member Jahangir Islam (Jugantar), Ashok Sarkar.  (Probashir Diganto), Akram Hossain (Noya Diganta) Abdul Alim (Muktabarta) and Shahjamal Kamal (Bhorer Dak) have been elected.
