A schoolgirl named Sweety Khatun (18) committed suicide by hanging herself in Rajshahi. She was a student of Belgharia Abdus Sattar High School.

Sweetie committed suicide by hanging herself with the arrow of her house on Thursday night. She is the daughter of Liton Ali of Belgharia Purbapara village in Yusufpur union of Charghat upazila of Rajshahi.

Rabiul Islam, an assistant teacher at Abdus Sattar High School, said the results of the SSC exams held this year were released on Thursday (December 30) at around 12 noon. According to the announced results, Sweety Khatun passed all the subjects but failed in mathematics.

Unable to bear the humiliation of failing the exam, he hung himself with a rope around his neck in his bedroom at home. Upon learning of the matter, the people of the house quickly rescued him and took him to the local doctor.

But doctors said he died before he could be taken there.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Katakhali Police Station SM Siddiqur Rahman of Rajshahi said that a student by the name of Sweety committed suicide by hanging herself after failing the SSC exam in Maths. Sweetie’s mother is our staff.

He worked as a boor in the police station. He was teaching his daughter to read and write with great difficulty. It is hard to imagine that such a thing would happen to a girl on Thursday. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family without an autopsy on the request of the family.
