Martyred Intellectuals Day observed in PUST

The family of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST ) has remembered the best children of the nation in mourning and respect on the day of Martyred Intellectuals on Tuesday.

On the occasion of the day at arond 10am on behalf of the university administration, Vice-Chancellor Prof. M Rostam Ali and Registrar (Current Duty) Bijan Kumar Bramma paid homage to the memory of martyred intellectuals with flowers at Swadhinata Chattar.

At this time more respect was paid – Proctor’s Office, Student Advisory Office, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Administration, Sheikh Hasina Hall Administration and various departments. A minute of silence was observed at the end of the tribute.

A discussion meeting on the Martyred Intellectuals Day was organised at MA Wazed Mia Science Building at 11 am. Professor Dr. Md. Hahibullah presided over the discussion meeting.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M Rostam Ali said that `when the Pakistani aggressors realised that they were going to be defeated, they grabbed the intellectuals of this country and started killing them. In order to make the Bengali nation incompetent, on the eve of the victory, this despicable massacre was carried out in collaboration with the local Razakars, Albadars and Alshams.’
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, professor Saiful Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Science Khairul Alam, Registrar (Current Responsibilities) Bijan Kumar Brahma, Provost of Sheikh Hasina Hall Laila Arjumand Banu, Associate Professor Nazmul Hossain, Section Officer Oliullah spoke at the programme.

Deans of various faculties, provost of halls, transport administrators, guest house administrators, departmental chairmen, proctors, teachers, students and staff were present in the discussion meeting. Raushan Yazdani, Assistant Professor, Department of English conducted the discussion. After Johar, a prayer mahfil was organized at the central mosque of the university.
