Gender Equality Campaign held in Bogura

With a view to celebrate the global SDGS Action Week an awareness campaign entitle “Our Community, Our Responsibility” was held in Bogura from 17th September to 11th October 2021 with SheEqual, a Youth based organisation, working for promoting of Women and Girls Rights.

The main objectives of this campaign is creating community awareness on gender based violence against women and girls to provide authenticate information instead of practicing traditional gender stereotypes, prevention and response to the women and girls.

When they become victim of violence, abuse and harassment, especially domestic violence, sexual harassment, Rape, Child marriage, Dowry system, Cyber Crime, Physical and mental abuse and others, the organisation will help them keeping their side.

This Campaign has been initiated and leaded by Tamima Nasrin the Founder of SheEqual So along with her leadership some Youth Volunteers have organized different awareness sessions, courtyard sessions at different public places, educational institutes, Mosque, coaching centre, Factories and reached 1500 people (tentative) under Sadar, Sajahanpur, Gabtoli, Kahaloo, Sherpur and Dhunat upazilas of the district.

They have provided different awareness messages including a brochure containing the information and contact numbers of different government service providers in Bogura especially the services of Women and children help desks at police stations where a victim can easily find their help in person as well as over telephone. Also they have disseminated the National emergency helpline numbers and the procedure of using 999 and 109 against this violence.

During this pandemic of Covid-19 the crime rate has been increased especially youth are involved in many crimes including drugs and women and children are being victimized so in this World crisis this is one of the praiseworthy initiative taken by SheEqual to engage youth people for creating community awareness to protect the women and girls in their own community.

Tamima Nasrin the Founder of SheEqual said the organisation is working tireless round the clock to raise awareness among the people across the district. Meanwhile, they have started getting response from the root level people, she added.
