Police on hidden information have arrested three robbers while preparing for a robbery at Bandighi village in Kalai upazila of Joypurhat.

They were arrested on Wednesday (September 15) evening. Local weapons and drugs including bullets were recovered from them at that time, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalai Police Station Selim Malik confirmed the matter.

The arrested are Mahbub Mandal, 42, son of Chafir Uddin of Bandighi village in Kalai upazila, Bajlar Rahman Bullet, 43, son of late Azizur Rahman of Kalai Thanapara village, and Saddam Hossain, son of Hamid of Aybhangi village in Gobindaganj of Gaibandha.

OC Selim Malik said the detainees have been involved in robbery and drug trafficking in different areas of the district for a long time. They were preparing for a robbery in Bandighi area on Wednesday and they arrested three members of the gang on the basis of such secret information.

OC also said there are several cases against them in different police stations of the district including murder, weapons, snatching and robbery.
