He was arrested on Saturday (August 14th).Montaz alias Mamtaz Ali, 62, son of late Ismail Ali of Sujarkuti village in Tukuria union of Pirganj upazila, is the only poor hearing-impaired father and physically challenged mother.The rapist called the schoolgirl to a secluded house to cook rice and forcibly raped her by threatening to kill her by wrapping a scarf around her face and neck.
The schoolgirl is a sixth grader at the local Sujarkuti High School. About 6 months ago, Shahnaz Parveen, daughter-in-law of lustful Mumtaz Ali, was admitted to Rangpur Medical College for Caesarean section. At that time, his son Liton Mia, daughter Swapna Begum (mother of one child) and his wife Chhanwara Begum also went to the medical center.

As a result, the schoolgirl became introverted. The neighbors of the village continue to question her in various ways due to her physical changes. The schoolgirl did not even know that she had a child in her womb. At one stage, when she was taken to the hospital on August 6, the doctor on duty informed her that she was 6 months pregnant.

When the family members wanted to know about this from the schoolgirl, she told about the incident. When the matter came to light in the village, the influential Montaz alias Mamtaz Ali and his men became enraged and attacked the helpless schoolgirl’s house. Due to constant fear and intimidation, the schoolgirl ran away from home and took shelter elsewhere. As their parents are disabled, they did not dare to take legal recourse for fear.

The schoolgirl’s uncle Bulu Mia and his wife All Begum prayed for justice at the local Sujarkuti Mosque to settle the matter locally. At the meeting, Mumtaz Ali promised to pay the schoolgirl taka one lakh  for his misdeeds but refused to recognize the unborn child. As a result, the settlement meeting was ruined.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (D Circle) Kamruzzaman informed the matter and ordered the Pirganj Police to arrest the accused rapist Mamtaz Ali. The Pirganj Police arrested the rapist Mamtaz
