A female beggar was stabbed to death by a male beggar in the water tank area of ​​Bara Bazar, a commercial center in Pabna town.  The incident took place at around 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Alladi Khatun, 45. She lived in a rented house of Ananta Bazar in the town.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Pabna olice station said some beggars were standing under a water tank near Barabazar in the town for begging and taking zakat clothes. At that time, the female beggar had a quarrel with another beggar Alladi. At one point, a middle-aged male beggar randomly stabbed Alladi. Se died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. The murderous beggar fled after being chased by other beggars.

The OC further said that on the night of Shabe Barat, the woman beggar had a quarrel with the beggar Alladi. The two are thought to have been at loggerheads since then. This is why the murder is believed to have taken place.

The body was recovered from the spot and sent to the Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, OC said.
