Rajatika is a senior teacher in the accounting department of Dulalpur Chandramani High School in Homna upazila of Comilla district.

Teacher Rajatika and his two daughters Poonam, Aranyaraj and wife Monira  were injured in a surprise attack on their way from their village Pathaliakandi to nearby Ghaniyarchar around 7.30 pm on Tuesday. The attack was led by Shahalam Nakul of Pathaliakandi village.

It is to be noted that Shah Alam Nukul Gang had treated his daughter badly even in 2016 when she was protesting. The perpetrators have been mistreating the family ever since. Now his little girl is making obscene gestures and eve-teasing on the street. The innocent teacher was attacked again for protesting.

It is to be noted that Shah Alam Nakul, who led the attack, is a fourth class employee of the local veterinary hospital. It is not at all understandable how a government employee can do such a thing. The girl could not accept the attack on her father in front of her, so the two girls had to be admitted to the hospital as they were humiliated and bloody.

A virtual protest meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Kafil Uddin Sagar , Assistant Professor of Haji Belayat Hossain Degree College under Araihazar Police Station of Narayanganj District and Abdur Rahman, Vice Pprincipal  of Rokon Uddin Mollah Degree College.The meeting was attended by journalists, civil society representatives and teacher leaders.

Mohammad Golam Sadeq of the Bangladesh Besorkary Shikkhok Kormochary Forum (BBSKF) said the incident could not be accepted as a nation-builder was assaulted in front of his daughter. I strongly condemn and protest against such a heinous incident and demand exemplary punishment by bringing the perpetrators under the law.

Mr. Enamul Islam Masud of BBSKF said that the forum is always by the side of dedicated teachers. When some terrorists poured feces on the head of the madrasa super in Bakerganj, the forum leaders appeared there, negotiated with the administration and were forced to bring the perpetrators under the law.

Leaders and activists of all levels of the forum protested against the beating of the  chairman and arrested the chairman in the face of protest. Forum leaders have been by Rajtika Sir’s side from the beginning and will remain so until an acceptable solution is found.Delwar Hossain Azizi said, if it was not for this corona epidemic, the forum leaders would have stood by Sir with Homna. Moreover, the oppressors have finally fled as the forum was on the side of many persecuted teachers in Comilla district in the past.

Zahirul Islam, member secretary of the adhoc committee of the BBSKF , said  Forum will be by the side of Rajatika Sir and the forum leaders will extend all possible cooperation to Sir. He said the Hon’ble Member of Parliament assured to resolve the issue through talks.

Advised to take legal action if there is no respectable solution in the discussion. Journalist leaders also assured cooperation at the meeting. Civil society activists have called on BBSKF leaders to form a volunteer team in all upazilas of Bangladesh so that they can stand by the abused teachers. Farid Uddin highlighted the importance of Teacher Protection Act.
