GanaUnnayan Kendra (GUK), a local reputed non-government organization, has taken up an initiative to feed quality ifter and sehri food to the destitute and orphans of Gaibandha and Dinajpur districts to help them observe the fast from sun rise to sunset during the month of Ramadan.
The initiative would be implemented by the organization for the destitute and the orphans of 16 orphanages of GaibandhaSadar, Shaghata, Fulchhari, Sundarganjupazilas of Gaibandha district and Fulbari and Nababganjupazilas of Dinajpur district, said Aftab Hossain, coordinator of GUK.
Chief executive of GUK MdAbdus Salam said, Australian Based Donor Organization Muslim Around the World is providing the fund to implement the initiative.
Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, an inmate ofKashemulUlumNuraniHefzak and Etimkhana located at Hholabari area under Kholahati union of Sadarupazila said they were doing ifter by taking various types of fruits like apple, Arabian dates, bananas and lemon juice side by side with eating muri, boot, bunda, piazu, beguni.
Besides this, they were also taking rice with beef or goat meat during the time of Sehri to observe the fast peacefully, he also said.
The authorities of the orphanages expressed their gratefulness to the GUK and its officials for providing quality iftar and sehri food to the poor and the orphans during the month of Ramadan.
Chief executive of GUK Md. Abdus Salam told this correspondent the quality ifter items and sehri food would be provided to 20,000 destitute and the inmates of the orphanages of the districts during the whole month of Ramadan at the initiative of the organization.
