A big human chain was held in front of Asaduzzamman Market of the district town yesterday in protest against the allegedly killing of shoe businessman Hasan Ali at the house of an infamous interest usurer at Narayanpur near to Khankasharif area of the district town on Saturday.

Leaders of various professional and socio cultural organizations including political parties addressed the human chain under the banner of ‘AmraGaibandhaBashi’.

The human chain was also addressed among others by former president of Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce and Industry freedom fighter Moksuder Rahman Sahan, president of JatiyaSamajtantrik Dal, district unit, Golam Maruf Mona, polit bureau member of Bangladesher Workers Party Aminul Islam Golap, president of Bangldesher Communist Party, district unit, Mihir Ghosh, president of Gaibandha Bar Association Advocate Sirajul Islam, president of District ByebshaSononnoyParishad

Iqbal Ahmed, social welfare secretary Shafiul Islam Rubel, general secretary of GaibandhaNariMukti Kendra Nilupher Yasmin Shilpi.

The speakers in their speeches said infamous interest usurer Masud Rana kidnapped Hasan Ali on March 05 for failing the instalments of interest money and detained him at his Narayanpur house for 26 days. During the period, Rana tortured Hasan physically and mentally for his interest money. One day of the period Rana demanded 5 Lakh Taka from Bithi Begum, wife of Hasan Ali over mobile phone. On Saturday morning, Sadar Thana police recovered the ganging body of Hasan Ali from the house of Rana. Though the police sent Rana to jail hajot, but the police are yet to record the case which is mysterious, they termed.

After kidnapping Hasan by Rana, Bithi Begum, wife of the victim made a written complaint to the officer in charge (OC)OF Sadarthana requesting him to rescue Hasan from the captive of Rana, they mentioned.

In response, the Sadarthana police took Hasan to the thana rescuing him from Rana and a discussion meeting was held in the office room of the OC to settle the issue but the police took stance in favor of Rana and asked Hasan to put on signature on the bank cheque and the blank stamp. At one stage, taking an undertaken, the police gave Hasan to Rana’s shelter and then Rana left the place hurriedly taking Hasan, they termed.

In course of time, the police recovered the hanging body of Hasan from Rana’s house at Narayanpur area of the town on Saturday morning, they quoted.

If the police did not give Hasan to Rana’s shelter, he would not be killed there, they lamented.

Like Rana, Thana police are also responsible for killing the incident, they questioned.

However, the speakers demanded maximum punishment punishment for the persons who were involved in the killing incident.

A Large number of people from all walks of life including the son of the victim took part in the human chain spontaneously.

The locals suspected that Hasan might have been killed by the torture of Rana and then, he hanged the body to prove that Hasan himself committed suicide.
