Leaders of the Islamic University (IU) unit of Chhatra Dal staged a protest around 12 PM on Sunday, demanding trial of those involved in the July mass uprising and Chhatra League allies.
The protest began at Dina-Chattar on the university campus, marched along major roads, and gathered at the main gate. At that time, Chhatra Dal (IU) unit convenor Sahed Ahmed gave a speech; senior joint convenor Anwar Parvez, member secretary Masud Rumi Mithun, members Rafiz Ahmed, Nur Uddin, and more than a half hundred leaders and activists were present.
In his speech, Sahed Ahmed stated, “Sheikh Hasina fled the country during the July student uprising and took refuge in India. While sitting in India, the dictator Hasina stands against Bangladeshi citizens and is trying to create disorder in our country. We are demanding to the interim government, as soon as possible, implement a trial of those involved in the July mass uprising and the Chhatra League allies, including certain teachers and officials.”
He added, “Immediate action should be taken against the teachers, officials, and employees who instigated the Chhatra League and provided them financial support during the July mass uprising at Islamic University.”
