The Computer Science and Engineering Department seven batches has been caught by serious session jam of about 350 students at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia. It takes six years to complete a four-year graduation program.

According to CSE department sources, currently seven batches are studying, but only five batches are supposed to be enrolled in the department. Classes for the latest admitted undergraduate first-year students have not yet started . The Master’s second semester lab examinations for the 2016-17 session were not held, and the Master’s first semester of 2017-18 did not have a final examination. The department has 17 teachers, including 7 who are currently out of the country.

Students allegedly, they are facing a severe session jam due to classes and exams not being held on time, the slow publication of results, and internal conflicts among teachers, although their main demand is to resolve the session jam as soon as possible.

Sirajul Islam Siraj, a student CSE department from the 2016-17 session, said, ” It takes six years to complete a four-year graduation takes six years and a one-year post-graduation complete takes two years. Recently, we protested, demanding the elimination of the session jam and gave nine-points demand to the department chairman.

Professor Rabiul Haque, Chairman of the CSE Department, said, “Our department has been caught session jam. Students submitted a memorandum with a nine-point demand to address the problem. Their demands are reasonable, and we will discuss them in the upcoming academic council meeting. We are committed to implementing solutions promptly. “
