woman (50) was killed when she was crushed by a truck while crossing the Dhaka-Bogura highway under Sherpur upazila of Bogura district.
The accident took place at 5:30 pm on Wednesday (June 29) in the Falpatti area of Sherpur bus stand of the upazila.
It is learned that the unidentified woman used to pick up rejected bottle on the road of different areas every day of Sherpur town.
When she was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road from the west side to the east side of the road at around 5.30 pm that afternoon.
When she fell, she was crushed by a Gaibandha Dhaka-bound timber loaded truck (Dhaka Metro T189620).Instantly she was crushed to death on the spot. Sherpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Nadir Hossain said, “The body was recovered and handed over to the police”.
AKM Baniul Anam, in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Camp said, “The name of the unidentified woman could not be known.”
“The truck was detained and the driver escaped and could not be apprehended”, he added.
