RAB arrested an arms dealer in Rajshahi while preparing to carry weapons chambered inside books in a novel manner. He was arrested from the Abahawa office area of Katakhali in Rajshahi city around 7 pm on Saturday.
The arrested arms dealer is Md Saddam (35), son of Shahjahan Ali of Dharampur East ward of Motihar police station in the city. RAB-5 confirmed this information through a press release on Sunday (September 3) morning.
According to RAB-5, an raiding team of Rajshahi conducted an operation in the area of Meteorological Office (Abhawapara) under Katakhali police station of Rajshahi city and arrested the arms dealer Md Saddam on the basis of intelligence information.
Later, he was searched and 1 foreign 9mm pistol, 1 magazine, 5 rounds of 9mm were recovered inside a red colored shopping bag wrapped in paper Panjeri Madhyamik Bangla Prothom Patra book with pages cut inside the book.
During preliminary interrogation, he admitted to keeping weapons, magazines, ammunition in his custody for sale. According to RAB sources, a case has been filed against him under Arms Act and handed over to Katakhali police station.
