Two smugglers arrested with human skeleton in Sherpur

Narcotics Control Department has arrested two active members of the human body smuggling ring under Sherpur upazila of Bogura district. Some 440 human bones including skull, leg, hand and hip bones were recovered in four bags from them at that time.
The two arrested are  Rashed Mia (24), son of Manu  of Gamaria village of Dewanganj upazila of Jamalpur district. and Belal Hossain (28), son of late Abdur Rashid of Paschim Gamaria village of same upazila and district.
At around 9 am on Wednesday morning, they were arrested by searching a passenger bus at Ghoga Battala area of ​​Dhaka-Bogura highway at Ghoga Battala area of ​​Sherpur  upazila of Bogura district.
After investigation, it is known that the arrested are active members of the human body smuggling ring. They steal human skeletons from different graves and sell them. Following this, different parts of the skeletons were packed in bags in four special schools and taken to Dhaka for smuggling.
On receiving such information secretly, the members of Bogura Narcotics Control Directorate set up a check post at a place called Ghoga Battala in the upazila and searched various vehicles. At one point, a Dhaka-bound bus was stopped and they were arrested with a bag of skeletons during a search. Besides handing them over to the police station after noon, they also filed a statement of the case.
Officer-in- charge (OC) of Sherpur Police Station Rahman Khondkar said, “During initial interrogation, both the arrested persons admitted to be involved in the theft and sale of human skeletons. Rashed’s father-in-law’s house is in Banmaricha village of Garidah union of Sherpur upazila.
That’s why his colleague Belal came to his father-in-law’s house on Tuesday afternoon. After spending the night there, he went to Sariakandi upazila of the district on the next Wednesday morning, collected the skeletons in a bag, came to Sherpur bus terminal and boarded the bus and was going to Dhaka with the skeletons.”
They had four bags with them at the time of arrest. In those bags, 440 human bones including skull, leg, arm and hip bones were recovered. Several other people are believed to be involved in this incident. So they need more interrogation. For this, remand will be sent to the court. Later accordingly others of that circle will be brought under the law.” he added. “Case is under process in the connection” he also added.
