The 136th appearance of the auspicious moon and Bhagirathi Padma are being celebrated for three days. Various programmess have been organised for three days on this occasion.
“Don’t die, don’t kill, if you can, abolish death”, “contains this choice when he appears wherever; That place is the ultimate goal of man”. The 136th appearance of the auspicious moon at Pabna’sHimayetpurnearby Mental Hospital and the bathing festival at Bhagirathi Padma are going on at Himayetpur containing such numerous sayings of the auspicious moon.
Saturday is the second day of the three-day festival with various programmes including congregational prayer, recitation of scriptures, name-meditation, devotional music, youth conference, ritual meeting, mangalikaushakirtan, apparition bowing and organ offering, Sri SriAnukuThakur birth place circumambulation, Bhagirathi Padma bathing, Kishore Mela, devotional songs, folk entertainment. Matrimeeting was held in the afternoon. Mahaprasad is also distributed among the devotees at Anandabazar.
Besides, a religious discussion meeting was held on the second day in the evening. Zilla Parishad Chairman ASM Abdur Rahim Pakon was the chief guest at the event, Pabna upazilachairman Mosharraf Hossain, municipal mayor Mohammad Sharif Uddin Pradhan, municipal councilor Shaheen Sheikh, Awami League leader Azad Hossain spoke as special guests.
The programme was presided over by senior vice president of the ashram, Prof. Gopinath Kundu and conducted by Dr. Naresh Chandra Madhu. Ashram Secretary Ranjan Kumar Saha delivered the welcome address.
Hiranmoy Ghosh, publicity secretary of the Ashram, said that Thakur’s devotees came from different parts of the country in spite of inclement weather and rain. Devotees have also come from outside the country. About 40,000 devotees from the country and outside the country gathered in the three-day event.
All arrangements have been made to ensure that the devotees can enjoy the event smoothly. Police administration and fire department personnel are working for security. Earlier on Friday evening, Hindu religious welfare trust trustee Swapan Kumar Roy will inaugurate the festival as the chief guest.
