He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka (7January) on Sunday morning. The name of the deceased teacher Monarul Islam (35) is the Son of late Habibar Rahman of Rahmatpur village of Shahbandegi union of the upazila.
On inquiry, it is known that Pratibha Kinder Garden KG School is located in Phultala area of the same union and Monarul Islam worked as a teacher in that institution.
At one stage, the teacher developed a love relationship with a student named Jerin Akhtar. When the matter was known to all the girl was married. Still he was teasing her.
Following this, the student came to her father’s house in Noodapar village on the occasion of Islami Jalsa on December 30. But he went there that night and gave her a illegal proposal. After learning, Monarul was caught.
At the same time, the girl’s relatives tied him to a tree in the yard of Jahangir Alam’s house and beat him mercellessly Monarul Islam was seriously injured.Later on getting the news, his relatives came and rescued him and took him to Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
But as his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZRMC&H) in Bogura and later to a private hospital in Dhaka and he died undergoing treatment there.
Sherpur police station OC Ataur Rahman Khondkar said, “The postmortem of the deceased is being conducted in Dhaka.” “Then the body will come to Sherpur. It will then be handed over to the family at the end of the legal process.” he added.
