Construction work of road widening and flyover from Octar junction to Kharkhari bypass in Rajshahi has been stopped for more than six months. The people of this area have suffered in this.

However, the contractor Abdul Monem Group admitted that the work was stopped due to lack of funds due to the increase in the cost of the project.

It is learned that the work of widening 4.6 km road from Octoy turn of Rajshahi to Kharkhari bypass started in 2016 at a cost of Taka 264 crore. The project also includes the construction of the first 600 meter flyover in Rajshahi.

Although the work was supposed to be completed in June this year, it has been closed for six months. The angry city dwellers. In this situation, the cost of the project has been increased by Tk 36 crore, said the officials of the contractor.
Mahmudul Hasan, project manager of Abdul Monem Limited, said, “We are starting work from next 22nd and we will handover the project by 30th June.”

However, the concerned contractor is being asked to complete the work within the stipulated time, said Abu Hayat Md. Rahmatullah, Chief Executive Officer of Rajshahi Development Authority. He also said that 80 percent work of the project has been completed.
