The 88th birth anniversary of the independence award winning poet, play wright,Novelist and translator poet SayedShamsulHaq was observed in Kurigram on December 27.

Various govt. non-govt. and cultural organizations including Kurigram district administration, police administration, combined cultural pact, Kurigram Press Club, Kurigram Govt. College, SayedShamsulHaqSmritiparishad placed floral writhe on the grave of the poet situated by western side of Kurigram Govt. College’s ground.

Later a day long fair was held in the college ground initiated by SayedShamsulHaqSmritiParishad and formally inaugurated by wife of the poet Dr. AnowaraSayedHaq.

In the inaugural ceremony it was addressed among others by Kurigram DC Mohammad SaidulArif, SP Al Asad Mohammad MahfuljulHaque, Principal of Kurigram Govt. College professor MirzaNashir Uddin, Senior journalist Safi Khan, PP and principal of Kurigram Law College Advocate Abraham Lincoln, convener of Combined Cultural Pact  and Channel-I correspondent ShamolBhoumik, convener of SayedShamsulHaqsmritiparishad and ATN correspondent YousulAalamgir and member-secretary poet SammoRaiyan, President of Kurigram Press Club and correspondent of Daily JanakanthaRazuMostafiz.

In the day long poetry reciting, unveil of several publications and literature reading written by local writers and poets.
