Sales promotors of companies can contribute to boost production of quality crops: speakers

Speakers in a function here today said the sales promotors of various companies can play contributions to boost production of quality agri crops in chars through providing their agro inputs to the farmers.

“If the char farmers are provided quality agro inputs and they are advised to use the inputs properly on their crop land, they could produce quality crops that help to achieve the country’s food security and sustainable development goals by 2030 as well”, they also said.

They made the comments while they were addressing an inaugural session of two daylong training on sales development training for partner agro –input company staff at Sarabela Meeting room of SKS Inn at Radhakrishnapur, an outskirt of the district town on Sunday.

Swiss-contact has arranged the training under making markets works for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (m4c) project funded by Embassy of Switzerland and the government of Bangladesh.

The objective of the training is to promote the skills of the sales staff of different companies working in the district so that the char farmers of project command areas could get quality agro inputs for quality crops production and earning economic profit against the agri products to change their livelihoods.

Dr. NareshMadhu, consultant of Institute of Professional Training and Management (IPTM), Dhaka and Sudeep Chandra Mondal ,training coordinator of the institute, conducted the first day training as facilitators.

A total of 24 sales staff of different companies including ACICC, PCL, Hokem, Syngenta, AR Mallik Seed, AMCO, Mimpex, Ispahani Agro, are taking part in the training, said Md. Hafizur Rahman, project manager of SKS-m4c project.

Chandranath Gupta, an official of the project said the project is being implemented in 125 chars of Fulchhari, Saghata, Sadar and Sundarganjupazilas of the district while SKS Foundation is working as the implementing partner.

The project is working to reduce poverty and vulnerability through the development of the agricultural market system in Char area, creating income and employment opportunities for the poor families of Char areas, he added.

The project is also working on various strategies for overall economic development, market connectivity, employment generation and rescue from natural calamities of Char residents of the district, he concluded.
