Police arrested all the accused (3 persons) involved in the murder of expatriate’s wife and her 8-year-old child by identifying them while stealing and recovered the goods used in the murder. Pabna Police Superintendent Akbar Ali Munshi gave this information in a press conference at the Pabna Police Superintendent’s office on Thursday.

Earlier on Friday night Shahadat Hossain, the brother of the deceased Labani Khatun filed a murder case at Chatmohar police station accusing unknown persons as the plaintiff.

The arrested are Saddam Hossain,26, his brother Hossain Ali,37, of Dighulia village under Chatmohar upazila in Pabna and Humayon Miji alias Hriday,28, of Khankhanapur-Dattaparavillage of sadar police station in Rajbari district.

Among the accused, Saddam Hossain is accused in multiple murder cases including a CNG driver in Failjana area of Chatmoharupazila in October 2022 The deceased Labani Khatun,35, and her son Riyad Hossain,8, are the wife and children of Abdur Rashid of Dighulia village in Chatmohar upazila.

Superintendent of police in Pabna Akbar Ali Munshi said at the press conference that Abdur Rashid lives in Malaysia. His wife Labani Khatun bought about 25,000 bricks a few days ago to build her house and withdraw cash from the bank and keep it at home. Labani Khatun and her son Riyad were sleeping in their house after dinner on the night of January 25. The next morning, seeing the door open and the furniture in disarray, everyone started searching.

At one point, Labni’s body was found in the goat shed and son Riyad’s body was found hanging from a tree by the pond near the house. In this incident, the police became desperate to uncover the main mystery of the murder. Finally, the police were able to uncover it.

SP said that the news of Labani Khatun buying bricks and withdrawing money from the bank made the defendants think that they have a lot of money and gold ornaments.

Accused Hussain Ali planned to steal the victim’s house with this idea. Later, his younger brother Saddam and their friend Humayun Kabir of Faridpur district went to steal the house on the night of January 25. When Labani Khatun and her son Riyad came to know about the theft, they immediately strangled them to death and to divert the incident, they hung Riyad’s body from a tree near the house and left Labni’s body in the cowshed.

Later in the night they fled with the goods including gold rings, chains, bangles, earrings, two pairs of silver nupurs, silver pails. At one stage of the investigation of this incident, to reveal the mystery of the murder and on the basis of information technology and secret information, raids were conducted in various police station areas of Faridpur and Gopalganj districts and the accused were arrested.

Among others, three additional superintendent of police Masud Alam, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Hasibul Benazir, district intelligence police OC Imran Mahmud Tuhin and others were present.
