RDC inspected the Prime Minister’s gift house collapsed in Sherpur

Dr.Humayun Kabir,Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner inspected the honouble Prime Minister’s gift house collapsed  in Khanpur Union under Sherpur upazila of Bogura district.
 On Friday (July 9) at around 11:30 am, he visited the house of the shelter project near Koyerkhali Burigari canal in Khanpur union of the upazila.

 Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner.  Commenting on Humayun Kabir’s visit, Bogra Water Development Board Deputy Engineer Nibaran Chakraborty said, “They are trying their best to repair the damaged houses.  The Public Works Department, Water Development Board, Nesco and the Deputy Commissioner’s Office are providing financial assistance from their own funds. The Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi is visiting to see the progress of the work. ”
 Besides,  the handover of the project, it is seen that part of 6 out of 22 houses have been collapsed and submerged in the Burigari canal. When this news was published in the media, the administration has taken repair measures. An initiative has been taken to fill the soil by filling sand in the GEO-Bag by plastering bamboo along the canal.  In this context, local engineer Rezaur Rahman said, “It is not possible to hold the soil for more than one year in bamboo pallasetting. In this case, there is no alternative to pre-piling.

 Beneficiaries and local people complained that low quality materials were used in the construction of houses. They said the floor was plastered only on sand without using any brick pieces. As a result, the plaster on the floor and porch is now rising.However, the places visited by the officials have been re-plastered.  As a result, they are of the opinion that the houses will not last long.

 Locals have also complained about financial transactions in allotment of houses.  In this context, Md. Rahmat Ali, a resident of house number 2 of the project, said that before the construction of the house, They are told that there is no allocation to fill the land even though there is a budget for building houses. For this he gave money to the local Farid member.
 Md. Badshah of the area claimed to be landless and said that he had paid Tk 12,000 to the local Jahurul to get a house.  But he did not get the house. According to the victims, 12 to 15 thousand Tk has been taken from Maidan, Aklima, Omar, Arju and Anwar.
 Asked about the financial transaction, Sherpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Moinul Islam said he was not aware of it.
 It may be mentioned that when some houses of the Prime Minister’s Asylum Project collapsed in Khanpur of Sherpur Upazila recently, the news was published in most of the media including  Daily Asia & Bangladarpan. Shortly afterwards, he was given a punitive transfer order.In this incident, on July 4, the then Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj District Liaquat Ali Sekh were transferred to OSD (Officer in Special Duty) of the Ministry of Public Administration.
