Rabindra-NazrulJayanti concludes in Pabna

A two-day cultural event titled Rabindra-NazrulJayanti concluded at the District Shilpakala Academy in Pabna on Tuesday.

The event was organised by Swadhinata o BijayDibasUdjapanParishad, Pabna.

Convener of Swadhinata o BijayDibasUdjapanParishad and Awami League Lawmaker GolamFarukKhandakar was present as chief guest while vice-chancellor of Pabna University of Science and Technology HafizaKhatun was present as special guests at the the concluding programme.

Pabna Edward college principal HumayunKabirMajumder, Pabna Press Club president ABM Fazlur Rahman, Sangbad PatraParishad president Abdul Matin Khan, BanamaliShilpakala Kendra general secretary Mohammad Habibullah, Pabna University of Science and Technology proctor SM Kamal Hossain, Abdul Alim, Abdul Majid and district cultural officer MarufaManjuri Khan Soumi, among others, were present as guests.

GolamFarukKhandakar said, ‘Cultural activities play a vital role in taking the country forward. Therefore, cultural practices must be spread across the country.’

‘Poets, writers and cultural activists from Pabna have been making important contributions to the country’s  art, literature and culture sectors,’ he added.

HafizaKhatun said, ‘If we can embrace the life and philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore and national poet KaziNazrul Islam, we will be able to make progress as human beings. They celebrated humanity and equality in their works.’

Earlier, the inaugural ceremony was held at the Rafiqul Islam BakulSwadhinataChattar in the city on Monday.

Following which, a discussion programme was organised at the auditorium of Shilpakala Academy.

Renowned poet-essayist and Nazrul researcher Mozid Mahmud, Pabna University of Science and Technology pro vice-chancellor SM Mostafa Kamal Khan, professor Kamruzzaman, SelimNazir High School teacher Hasina Akhter Rosie, advocate Pulak Kumar Chakraborty, former vice-president of district AL AbulKalam Azad Babu and others spoke at the programme.
