A team of Rapid Action Battelion (RAB)-12 personnel conducted a raid at Godarpara bazar area on Bogura-Naogaon road under sadar upazila in Bogura district on Thursday evening.
By setting cheque-post in the area, the RAB personnel arrested 02 narcotic peddlers with 36.54 Kg of contraband hemp from their possession. The arrested peddlers are identified as Juwel Mia, 43, son of late Kobir Mia of Kauriapara Satirpara under sadar upazila of Narshindi and Kamal Uddin, 51, son of Nur Islam of Syedpur under Koshba upazila in Brammonbaria district.
RAB sources said thata acting on a tip-off, RAB stopped a pic-up van from Noagaon district and recovered 36.54 Kg of contraband hemp and also seized 2 drums, 3 cell phones, 2 SIMs, and at Tk. 3550 cash money from their possession.
Mir Monir Hossain, Superintedent of Police (SP) and Company Commander, RAB-12, Bogura, said that the arrested narcotic peddlers have been conducting narcotic business for long time in different parts of Bangladesh and they have been handed over to Bogura Sadar Thana Police Station for taking lawful action against them.
Such drive by RAB aganist narcotic business will be continued in future and RAB personnel are committed to make Bangladesh as crime free country, added the Company Commander.
