PROSPERITY (Promoting Resilience, Opportunity and Socio-Economic Empowerment of Migrants /Climate displaced Communities in Bangladesh) Project- 2nd phase will be implemented for the welfare of migrant returnees and climate victims of Kamarjani, Gidari and Boali unions of Sadar upazila in the district till December 2025.
Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a voluntary organization of the district, would implement the project at the unions of the upazila in cooperation with AWO International and BMZ.
This was disclosed by an official of the organization in a briefing session held at the conference room of the upazila administration of the town here on Thursday morning around 11AM. UNO Md. Shariful Alam attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest.
Senior programme manager of the GUK Joya Proshad briefed the participants about the activities of the project and said the project started its work in the unions since January 2023.
The objective of the project is to ensure the welfare of the migrant returnees and climate victims and restore their livelihoods, she added. Many recommendations were also adopted from the participants to run the project smoothly. At last, She also sought wholehearted cooperation of the officials concerned to make the project a grand success.
UNO Md. Shariful Alam in his speeches assured the project officials and staff of providing his all sorts of administrative help to run the project in the command areas peacefully and successfully.
A number of upazila level officials, union parishad chairmen, civil society members and journalists took part in the function.
