A project introduction meeting was held in Chapainawabganj at the initiative of Lighthouse to accelerate the legal aid program and ensure legal services to the helpless people. On Monday (November 25) afternoon, the project introduction meeting was organized in the conference room of Chapainawabganj District Judge Court under the Lighthouse ‘The USAID Legal Aid Activity’ project to inform about government legal aid.

The meeting was presided over by the learned District and Sessions Judge of Chapainawabganj district, Md. Mizanur Rahman.

The meeting, conducted by District Legal Aid Officer and Senior Assistant Judge Mst. Rukhshana Khanam, was attended as special guests by Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Women and Child Violence Protection Tribunal Md. Haider Khondoker, Chief Judicial Magistrate (Acting) Md. Abu Taleb, Additional District Magistrate Iktekharul Islam, PP of the District and Sessions Judge’s Court Adv. Md. Abdul Wadud, GP Adv. Md. Mosaddek Hossain, PP of the Women and Child Violence Protection Tribunal Adv. Md. Rabiul Haque Dolon, President of the District Bar Association Adv. Solaiman Bishu and General Secretary Adv. Ekramul Haque Pintu.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Director of Lighthouse Sadiq Al Hayat, Project Coordinator of the Legal Assistance Activity Project Md. Siddiqul Alam Mamun, and Project Officer Md. Salah Uddin.

The meeting discussed the introduction and activities of the Lighthouse Legal Aid Activity Project. It was informed in the meeting that Lighthouse is implementing this program in 04 districts of Rajshahi division including Chapainawabganj and is working to ensure access to judicial services for helpless poor justice seekers, especially women and children, indigenous people, people living in char areas and remote areas.

In addition, Lighthouse is playing a role in raising awareness among the public about various legal aid services at government expense. The participants present at the project introduction meeting were urged to raise awareness about government legal aid from their respective positions and to cooperate in the activities of Lighthouse.
