Professor Dr. Mazharul Islam Toru has been appointed as Principal of Nawabganj Government College.
Senior Assistant Secretary (Additional Duties) Mst. Rebecca Sultana has been appointed by order of the President in the notification of Government College Branch-2 of Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education on October 18.
Before being appointed to the post of Principal, Professor Dr. Mazharul Islam was serving as Vice Principal and Acting Principal of College. The post of Principal fell vacant when Professor Dr. Shankar Kumar Kundu went on Preparatory Retirement Leave (PRL) last September.
It is known that Professor Dr. Mazharul Islam Toru was born on February 18, 1968 in Chapainawabganj city. Father Professor Sirajul Islam & Mother Tahera Islam. Education: Secondary 1984, Nawabganj High School, Higher Secondary 1986, Nawabganj Government College. Graduated with honors in Bengali Language and Literature in 1993 and Master in 1994, M.Phil in 1999 and Ph.D in 2002 from Rajshahi University. For his contribution to teaching, he was selected as the best teacher at the national level and received a gold medal in the National Education Week 2004. Currently he is a folklore researcher.
