Police Memorial Day on Thursday held in Pabna in memory of the police personnel who sacrificed their lives for the protection of public safety and law and order including the great war of liberation.
Wreaths were laid at police memorial in honor of the memory of the martyred policemen.
Later, a discussion meeting and reception of the family members of the martyred police personnel was held at Police Line Auditorium.
The meeting was chaired by Pabna Police Super Mohammad Mahibul Islam Khan and addressed by Ghulam Faruque Prince MP as the chief guest and special guests were deputy commissioner Biswas Russel Hossain, Superintendent of Police (CID) Monirul Islam, president of chamber of commerce Saiful Alam Swapan Chowdhury, freedom fighter Habibur Rahman Habib, freedom fighter Chandan Chakraborty, senior vice president of chamber of commerce Ali Mortuza Biswas Soni. , superintendent of police Chowdhury Abdul Ghaffar’s daughter professor Rokeya Sultana, son Mehtab Islam, Chowdhury Hamid Ghaffar along with senior officers of district police and police families who sacrificed their lives for maintaining public safety and law and order including the great liberation war.
At least 56 policemen were martyred In 1971, in a confrontation with Pak aggressors in Pabna, while on duty at different times. On the occasion, gifts were exchanged among the police families who sacrificed their lives for the protection of public safety and law and order including the great war of liberation.
