A comprehensive lockdown has started in Akkelpur of Joypurhat from last Thursday to prevent the transmission of corona virus. If you leave the house without an urgent need, you will have to pay a fine.

The members of the upazila administration and the army and law enforcement are in a strict position to prevent the spread of corona in Akkelpur. The people of the administration are patrolling the market at the corners of the hat-bazaar and various neighborhoods.

Police personnel have been seen setting up checkposts at various corners of Akkelpur Municipal Headquarters. Anyone who leaves the house and takes to the streets has to face interrogation. If you can’t tell the exact reason for leaving the house, you have to pay a fine. However, almost every day in the municipal city, goods trucks, several charger-powered auto vans and the general public are seen more. However, the police is interrogating everyone by stopping them at the check post.

Meanwhile, the upazila administration is operating two mobile courts to prevent ordinary people from going out in the lockdown. Those who break the law and go out are being fined between Tk 500 and Tk 3,000 depending on their crime.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Habibul Hasan said, “The main objective is not to impose fines, we want to motivate the people to obey the law.” Unless there is an urgent need to deal with corona, everyone should stay at home following government instructions. And those who wander outside without a reason, and do not follow the rules of hygiene will be fined.
