Pedestrians suffering much due to develop potholes in bus stand connector road in Bogura

Good numbers of pedestrians are suffering untold as many potholes have been developed at than bus stand connector road under Dupchanchia upazila in Bogura for a long time.

The pedestrians of famous Dhaphaat use the road every Thursday to purchase their commodities. They are to woe while crossing the road. Bandar Tematha road about one kilometer from Thana bus stand is an important road of the upazila.

On both sides of this road, there are Dupchanchia Municipal Building, Police Station, Government Pilot Model High School, Upazila Land Office, Mother and Child Center, Dupchanchia Model Government Primary School, Sadar Union Parishad including clinic and diagnostic center, business establishments.

At various places of the road of about one kilometer, the stones of the carpeting and the pits have come up and created potholes. The contractor was selected through a tender to take up a project from the municipality to rehabilitate the road at a cost of tk 82 lakhs. The selected contractor also started the project work on time.

The contractor has started the renovation work getting work order but it has been left in the middle of the road, causing great inconvenience to the movement of vehicles and common people.

The road with brick ditches is the initial level work leaving it midway. Due to being left for a long time, potholes have been created at various places on the road. In this monsoon season, even if it rains a little, water accumulates in the pits. Many times, trucks and vans get stuck in these potholes, causing long traffic jams. In this, the movement of common people including all types of vehicles has to suffer.

Victims former councilor Yunus Ali Sakhider, businessman Gholam Mostafa, Abdul Wahab and many others said that the road’s renovation work was left in the middle, even if it rains a little, the potholes of Khanakhande road are filled with water. It increases public suffering. The road needs to be repaired urgently.

Abul Kalam Azad, the selected contractor in this regard, said that there has been some delay due to non-allocation of funds for the road improvement project. He said that he will finish the carpeting of the road in a few days.
