PahelaBaishakh observed in Kurigram

PahelaBaishakh, the 1st day of Bangla New Year (1431) was observed in Kurigram with great enthusiasm and befitting manner on April 14.

Kobi Guru Poet Rabindranath wrote about the month of Baishakh as  “Asoaso hey Baishakh, asoaso”. As per poet’s theme banishing all the old miss deeds and other mistaken in the last year, welcoming the happy Bangla New Year with new energetic and dynamic steps tobrought out a colorful rally and cultural function as the part of countrywide program.

The colorful rally was brought out from “I love Kurigram” square beside Judge court pond at 11.00am with police band party carrying banner, festoons, wearing mask,Basanti Shari for women, school and college girls and colorful paijama-Panjabi for all ages of men showing as we are Bangali, decorated children as bride and bridegroom riding in cart etc. paraded main roadsof the district town led by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad SaidulArif. People of all walks of life including Superintendent of Police Al Asad Mohammad Mahfujul Islam,Chairman of KurigramZilaParishad ANM Obaidur Rahman,Assistant Engineer of ZilaParishadMizanur Rahman,Public prosecutor, Sadhinata Award Winner  and Principal of Kurigram Law College advocate Abraham Lincoln, former commander of Kurigram Freedom Fighter SangshadSirajul Islam Tuku,vice president of Kurigram district unit of AL Abu Mohammad Said HasanLoban, Reporters of both print and electronic media and various cultural organizations were also participated in the colorful rally. Men, women and children of the town came out from their respective houses to enjoy the attractive rally.

At the end of rally they assembled there again and discussion meeting was held where DC,SP,chairman of KurigramZilaParishad ANM Obaidur Rahman,principal of Kurigram Govt. College Mirza Nasir Uddin,Mayor of Kurigram Municipality Kaziul Islam and former Civil Surgeon Dr. Aminul Islam spoke among others.

A cultural function including traditional Bhawaiya songs and dances were presented in the stage of “I love Kurigram” square beside Judge Court pond.

The same programs were also held in all the other eight upazilas in the district.
